Grocery distribution opportunities

Your time is a gift to hungry kids, seniors and others who may not have enough to eat. Volunteers produce the equivalent of a meal a minute while helping Extended Hands sort, process and pack food. And it’s fun!

Volunteer Opportunities

These opportunities vary based on the needs and may include
inspecting/sorting/repacking food into family-sized bags, stocking/cleaning the pantry and more!

Kitchen Volunteers

Kitchen volunteers assist with serving hot meals and packaging of hot meals for distribution on Thursday at 11:00 am to 12:30pm for the community lunch service we provide.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering plays a vital role in Canadian life. Many Canadians generously offer their time, energy, and skills to help others—every year, 12.5 million people volunteer to make our communities stronger. While that number is impressive, a small percentage of Canadians are doing the majority of the work, and many of them are already in their seventies. As they begin to step back, it’s essential for a new generation to step forward and carry on the spirit of volunteering in fresh and diverse ways.

Volunteering is a great addition to your résumé, showing initiative, commitment, and real-world experience that employers value. For retirees, volunteering offers a meaningful way to stay active, connected, and engaged, giving them something to look forward to. And for students, it’s an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience, explore interests, and build skills that can open doors in the future.
